My question is he succeeding or is he failing? I think he is failing. There are some subjects he tries to tackle but they fall flat. Politics he does well on American Dad but other subjects fall flat. Brian trying to reconnect with his in that shit episode was horrible because Brian is an asshole and the ending was really bad. He really doesn't deserve to be a father. Norman Lear handles subjects better because he is a much better writer and he understands the material. Rape, single parenting, abortion,etc.. Also, Norman seems to understand women. Women are treated like shit on Seths' animated shows but are treated better on Orville. Norman had many shows on families but every one is differant. The Jeffersons was spun off and there was Maude. Another spinoff that starred a woman who was Ediths' cousin. There was also Gloria another spinoff but once again starred Archies' daughter. Good Times was a spinoff of Maude starring a strong black woman with her family. Checking Out was a spinoff of The Jeffersons with Flo who was the Jeffersons' maid. Another show created by him was One Day At A Time about a single woman raising 2 daughters. All these shows by Norman are all differant. Seth created 3 animated shows about families but they were the SAME TYPE of family. All 3 were led by fathers a wife 2 sons and a daughter. American Dad had 1 son and an alien. All the same and nothing differant. Seth needs a reality check. Not all families are like the ones he makes. There are single dads, single moms, gay couples (male and female) families with all boys, families with all girls, etc. He doesn't want to mix it up and be more original. Even Blackish spun off the older daughter off to college and her show is a hit. I would love to see Meg spin off on her own and go to college or take her roller derby team across the country and have adventures. That is more original because I'm sick of the animated family genre. We don't need anymore animated families SETH!!! Well, at least Norman did something differant in every show he did and the same with Matt Groening. I wish Seth would break the mold in his next animated show.
