Who has watched these films? My thoughts:
The only Star Wars films I care for are the original trilogy, and Return of the Jedi is iffy. I hate how Darth Lucas decided to place Hayden Christianson’s head on Anakin Skywalker in the final scene, and the untouched film is not available on DVD. What a schmuck.
I stated on another forum that the best thing about the prequels was Jar Jar Binks. Another member said: “This movie had Darth Maul, and you say Jar Jar was the best part of it? Seeker, I'm worried about you. Are you sleeping well? Do you need a latte? Let's rap a while.”
Rogue One was too long and we didn’t need a stupid backstory about the hole in the Death Star. The only good thing about the film was that everyone died in the end.
I refused to watch Solo on principle. We didn’t need a backstory about Han Solo. It was a cash grab by the money-grubbing monster that is Disney. They were going to do Boba Fett next, but thankfully Solo bombed at the box office so they nixed that benighted project.
The Force Awakens was pretty much a retread of A New Hope with new characters, but worse because A New Hope already HAPPENED and this movie pretty much ignored the original trilogy and pushed the reset button. After Han Solo’s arc growing as a human being he goes back to smuggling? After being married to a Queen/general?? What happened to the Rebellion? They won! Where did they go? And Luke Skywalker got a whole thirty seconds in this movie. Great.
Rian Johnson tried to follow up the hatchet job that hack Abrams stuck him with, and I’m convinced he could have made a better movie if he had had a better setup. Having Leia survive an unprotected trip to outer space was pushing it though. Funny (in a tragic way) that they killed off Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, but the actor they were planning to put in the third movie died. I think they’re going to vomit all over her memory by putting a CGI Leia in the third movie, but I guess they have to kill her off and not have a lame explanation of how she died off-camera.
This review was pretty negative I’ll admit. I didn’t talk about the utter awesomeness that was The Empire Strikes Back. That movie pretty much justifies the whole trilogy, though Vader’s change of heart in ROTJ was heartwarming I will say.
