Hello, all.
So I've had an idea floating around in my head for quite a while. As a fan of MacFarlane's shows, I thought about throwing my hat into the ring and making something in his style. My idea is this: Asian Guy.
The premise of Asian Guy is rather simple: A comedy animated sitcom similar to other MacFarlane shows, but with a specific focus on an East Asian family. First, let's introduce all the characters I have come up with up to this point.
Lee: The patriarch of the family, Lee would be the main character of the show as Peter is to Family Guy or Stan to American Dad; He is the titular "Asian Guy." Lee loves his family above all else and does everything he can to make their lives comfortable. Lee is very personable and friendly, a tremendous joy to be around.
Charlotte: Lee's wife and the matriarch of the family. Whereas Lee is more laidback, Charlotte is more strict, similar to Lois. Charlotte may be seen as a buzzkill to some people, but Lee still loves her and knows she'll always keep him in check.
Jon: Lee's 17 year old son. Jon's son isn't very popular and is a bit of a loner, a sort of edgy teenager stereotype who wears all black and stuff like that. Deep down, however, he is more sensitive than he'd have people believe. Jon's only real friend is Jonesy, his bully turned best friend.
Allen: Allen is Lee's coworker and best friend. He is openly gay and loves to have a good time, always going to the bar with Lee after work. Sadly, Allen's adoptive family hates him. Not because he's gay, but instead because he is Asian. You see, back when they first adopted a child, Allen was sent to their house on accident instead of who they wanted due to a mix up, so instead they got an Asian kid.
Ray: Lee's younger brother who is much more wealthy than him. Ray came upon great fortune in marrying woman whose family is very wealthy, essentially leeching of of them. Ray is a snob and has a lot of tension with Lee.
Marvin: A close friend of Lee since college and still part of his group that meets up at the bar. Marvin is the embodiment of cool.
Gabriel: Another old friend of Lee, but he's always very busy. Always has to leave the bar session early since he "has somewhere to be" (a recurring gimmick) and is always wearing a business suit.
Amy: The love interest of Jon at his high school. Though the two have mutual feelings, Jon's low self-esteem holds him back.
Jonesy: A former bully of Jon who became his best friend. Would eventually be revealed to actually be the original Paul McCartney who was sent through a hole in time (if anybody here knows about that rather absurd conspiracy theory, haha!).
What do you all think? I've created images in the past for all of these characters within the (now sadly defunct) website "Family Guy Yourself." If there's enough interest shown I shall post the designs, I simply did not wish to clog up the post too much.
